[ARCHIVED] AQUA Water Main Replacement on Malin Road and Barren Road

Construction Work

Please see the attached Letter to Customers from AQUA Pennsylvania regarding their upcoming water main replacement project on portions of Malin and Barren Roads.

Key information from this letter is as follows:

Aqua Pennsylvania will replace the existing 6-inch cast iron water main on Malin Rd. between Springhouse and Barren roads with new 8-inch ductile iron pipe in Radnor Township, Delaware County as part of their continuing infrastructure improvement program. They also will replace 6-inch cast iron water main on Barren Rd. between Malin Rd. and Devon Dr. with new 8-inch ductile iron pipe.

Construction on the $400,000 project is scheduled to begin the week of April 1, 2019 with completion expected in June. Aqua will have an inspector on the job each day to answer your questions.  Following the installation of the new water main, there will be a period of time during which the main will be chlorinated and tested before being put into service. Activity on the job site will be limited during this phase. Once testing has been completed, they will transfer each water service and any fire hydrants onto the new main, then make the final connections on the side streets and abandon the old main. It is important to note that the trench will be covered with temporary black top at the end of each work day. Permanent restoration will be complete in the summer of 2019.

· A detour will be in place for all work on Malin Road

· Work hours for all work on Malin Road will be 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

· Work hours for all work on Barren Road will be 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
