4-19-19 UPDATE - Newtown Township has learned that the repaving of Newtown Road will now be completed on Monday, April 222nd between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am. Milling operations were completed on schedule, but the repaving itself will now be completed on Monday night into Tuesday morning.
Newtown Township has received word of two projects taking place at Newtown Road (between St Davids Road and the border with Easttown Township) during the next two weeks. Newtown Road is a State Road, so is maintained and governed by PennDOT.
PECO will be doing gas line repair / replacement work in this area beginning on Monday, April 8, 2019. The work will take place during the daytime hours and should be completed within a few days. Anticipate that traffic will be congested in the area while this work is taking place.
PennDOT will be repaving this section of roadway beginning on Sunday night, April 14, 2019. It is their intention to work overnight and complete by 6:00 am the milling of the roadway. They then intend to repave the roadway on Monday night, April 15th between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am. Again, anticipate that the area will be congested while this work is taking place.
Please be very careful while travelling through or around a work zone. Slow down, watch carefully and follow the directions of any posted signage and those who will be directing traffic where to go. It will be inconvenient for a few days, especially for those who live in the immediate area, but the new road surface on Newtown Road should be well worth the temporary difficulty.
