[ARCHIVED] October Road Work Updates Within Newtown Township

Sign - Detour

There are many utility and road work projects taking place within Newtown Township.  Below is updated information on them:

PECO continues to do underground electrical and natural gas utility work in several areas.  These include:

  • West Chester Pike - between Radnor Drive and Barren Road.
    • This work has been on-going, and at last update is anticipated to be completed in November.
    • This project is under a PennDOT permit
  • West Chester Pike - in the SAP / CVS / Boot Road area.
    • This underground work has been gradually making its way west down West Chester Pike.
    • The construction location is now at Boot Road.  For safety reasons, vehicles will not be able to make a LEFT onto West Chester Pike from Boot Road during construction times on weekdays for approximately the next two weeks.  Making a RIGHT onto West Chester Pike from Boot Road is still available.  Motorists are encouraged to travel via another route if they need to go east on West Chester Pike from Boot Road during these hours.
    • This project is under a PennDOT permit
  • Newtown Road - North of St Davids Circle

    • While this project is mostly completed, there will be final work as well as paving to be done
  • Green Countrie Drive and Hansel Road areas

AQUA also continues to do underground water main work in our area.

  • Malin Road in Radnor Township (between Earles Lane and Hansel Road)
    • Find the news post on Radnor Township's website here.
    • Although not a project within Newtown Township, many Newtown residents experience the road closures associated with this work.  Information in the Radnor news post is helpful.
  • Route 252 in Easttown Township (north of White Horse Road)
    • Find the news post here regarding this project
    • Although this is an AQUA project authorized by PennDOT within Easttown Township, we know that many Newtown residents experience the traffic delays in the area due to this work.
    • The news post with information from PennDOT should be helpful.
  • Newtown Heights Water Main Replacement Project
    • Find the news post here regarding this project

Finally, Newtown Township's 2023 Road Program is in full swing.  Please check the web page dedicated to this project for updates on the progress.  Fortunately, the workers on this project have been very accommodating in permitting all services and residents the ability to get through the areas they have been working on.

Whenever a utility or other road-related project is taking place within town, we do our best to post information about it here.  All residents are encouraged to sign up for NOTIFY-ME on the Newtown Township website to be alerted when any new information is posted.  You can select the kinds of notifications and topics you want to be alerted to.

No matter what the road-related project, or who the contractor or utility is who may be performing it, please always take great care when travelling through a work zone.  Follow the instructions of the workers there who want to keep you safe and to complete the improvement as quickly and responsibility as possible.
