The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has provided another updated status of work on the three State Roads within Newtown Township being repaved:

  • Monday, November 28, through Friday, December 2, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Bryn Mawr Avenue between Route 3 (West Chester Pike) and the Bryn Mawr Avenue bridge over Darby Creek in Newtown and Radnor townships for paving.
  • Note that the pipe work / culvert replacements at Bryn Mawr Avenue were completed last week.
  • Note as well that the repaving work at St Davids Road and on Goshen Road has been completed.

Paving operations had been going on overnight on all three roads until the temperatures dropped too low to lay asphalt.  Hence, PennDOT moved the work to during the daytime when temperatures still allow the work to be completed.

PennDOT includes the following information with their informational bulletins:

  • Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
  • Under these resurfacing projects, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surfaces and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.
  • Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting or downloading the 511PA mobile application. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
