New Recycling Vendor in 2019
Newtown Township is pleased to welcome J.P. Mascaro & Sons as our new residential recycling vendor in 2019.
Contracts for such services are publicly bid, and J.P Mascaro & Sons won the bid for this term. You will see their distinctive red trucks beginning the first week of January ( Thursday, January 3rd for zone #1 and Thursday, January 10th for zone #2 ). They worked with the Township to produce and send out a mailer to each home that we collect from to introduce themselves, provide their contact information and remind everyone what materials can be collected (and which ones cannot). A copy of that mailer can be found HERE.
Please be patient the first few collection cycles as they become comfortable with the route. Understand that they will use the best logistical route for them, and this may be different than that which was used previously. Republic Services may have previously collected from your street first thing in the morning, and J.P.Mascaro may get to that street later in the day, and vice-versa. As long as you have your recycling out on-time (before 7:00 a.m.) they will collect it before the end of their day. Should anything unusual occur during the day we will update the Township website with appropriate information.
Residential single-stream recycling collections occur from each home twice every month. In addition to the mailer posted above, see below for materials that can be recycled, a map with schedule, household hazardous waste collection information and other important recycling information. The schedule stays the same – collections begin at 7:00 AM on your recycling day, so be sure to have your materials out before that. In the event of a missed pick-up, please call customer service at J.P. Mascaro at 800-432-1616. Be sure to identify that you are from Newtown Township in Delaware County.
Again, we welcome J.P. Mascaro and look forward to working with them, and we thank Republic Services for the several years of recycling work we did with them. A lot of good work in the area of recycling has been done, and there is even more we can do. Please do your part – recycle as much as you can and follow the instructions about what CAN and what CANNOT be recycled. It matters.
Thank you for your efforts to recycle.
