Boot Road in Newtown Township will be closed to all thru-traffic on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 and Thursday, July 30, 2020 between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00 pm for tree removal work.
Asplundh, who is preparing for the PECO and VERIZON pole replacement project has been tree trimming on Boot Road this past week. There are 4 large trees that they need a 100’ aerial lift truck to work on, and the aerial lift truck is too large to permit traffic to pass next to it while it is in use. Once it is set up it needs to remain in place until the work is completed.
The trees are located close to each other between 61 and 81 Boot Road. All Boot Road residents southeast of this location can enter and exit via West Chester Pike, and all Boot Road residents northwest of this location can enter and exit via Goshen Road. There will be a flagger from Asplundh on each side assisting residents and directing thru-traffic to take another route for these two days.
Emergency services and the US Post Office are being notified of this temporary closure and how far can be accessed on each side of the work area. Should Asplundh complete work early each day, the road will be reopened at that time. Otherwise, the road will be closed at 9:00am and should be reopened at 4:00pm.
Please be aware of this work, and plan your travels in the area accordingly. Always be safe while travelling through a work zone and follow the instructions of those who are there to guide you.
