June 30, 2020 UPDATE - As of June 30, 2020 no additional pickup requests are being taken, as this is the last day for pickups. Staff are spending the day completing those that had been submitted during the month of June.
Original June 4, 2020 Post:
Public Works staff have been working since Wednesday afternoon, June 3rd to clear blocked roads from trees that have fallen. They continued working throughout the night and as soon as PECO clears wires that are tangled in fallen trees they can open those roads which are still closed as well. Remember NEVER to go near a tree that is touching wires. Never presume that the wires are not powered. Even Public Works staff, Fire Fighters and the Police are not permitted to touch those trees - only PECO can safely remove the wires so that the tree can be removed from the street.
Due to this severe storm of June 3, 2020, Newtown Township will be offering storm cleanup assistance during the remainder of the month of June, 2020. During this month-long event, Public Works crews will be providing a one-time pick-up of branches and tree limbs throughout the Township for any resident who requests it.
We can collect branches and tree limbs as large as ten (10) inches in diameter. They must be cut into lengths no longer than six (6) feet and stacked neatly at the curb with cut ends facing the street. Leaves, grass clipping, brush and branches with a diameter larger than ten (10) inches and a length larger than six (6) feet can not be accepted.
Public Works will handle the proper disposal of these limbs and branches. There is no cost to residents for this pick up.
To schedule a storm cleanup collection, please fill in and submit this June 2020 Storm Cleanup Form. We will make every attempt to honor your requested pick up day. However, if a scheduling conflict arises, pickup will be made as soon as is possible afterwards.
