[ARCHIVED] Recycling Electronics and Textiles in Newtown Township

Green Recycling Sign

Unfortunately, the May 30, 2020 Electronics Recycling Collection Event, held jointly with Newtown, Marple and Haverford Townships has been CANCELLED due to COVID-19 concerns.  However, you can still utilize Newtown Township’s partnership with retrievr to responsibly recycle your electronic (and textile) waste!

Properly disposing of electronic and textile waste can be difficult.  While always encouraging donation of usable electronics and usable clothing and other textiles, Newtown Township has been pleased to offer electronic collection events for the past several years.  This past year, we have also offered another option - and retrievr has made the collection of these non-donated electronics and clothing for recycling a lot easier for our residents.

"retrievr" is a text-based service that once scheduled will come to your door and collect / responsibly dispose of electronic (and textile) waste that would not otherwise be donated.  All you need do is text the word "pickup" to 757-70-FETCH (757-703-3824), set up your personal account so they can get some details of the materials to be collected and schedule a time for them to be taken away.  They come right to your door when you have the materials prepared.  Other than TV’s, computer monitors, microwaves, air conditioners and dehumidifiers, there is NO COST for the collection of your items (TV’s, computer monitors, microwaves, air conditioners and dehumidifiers do have a cost due to the expense of disposing of them in accordance with environmental laws).

As you spring clean, do not throw away your unwanted clothing and electronics - bag them or box them and set them aside.  retrievr will pick them right up from your doorstep and recycle them for you.  Collection is completely contact-free: just leave your items on your porch when the pickup is scheduled.  retrievr anticipates resuming collections starting May 11th, subject to guidance from State and Local officials.  You can also follow retrievr on and for updates on when they can resume collections.
