Yard Waste Collection

AUGUST STORM CLEANUP ASSISTANCE - Drop-Off Opportunity Available

Newtown Township traditionally offers a branch drop-off opportunity to residents during the spring and summer months. However, as the Municipal Complex - including the Public Works yards have been closed to the public due to COVID-19, we were unable to offer that this year.  The May curbside branch pickup program was well utilized and was done, and then during the month of June a special storm cleanup was offered.  The number of requests received and amount of wood collected put a significant strain on Public Works, with approximately 144,000 pounds of wood collected and chipped - representing 24 MACK-truck loads of wood chips.  While all requests were honored and completed, the over 300 hours of labor required meant that much other work that needed to be done at that time was not so that storm cleanup assistance could be done.

Although we are unable to do another curbside collection of branches following the August storms, we will open the Public Works yard to facilitate branch DROP OFF for the remainder of August and September.

Residents may drop off branches and tree limbs at the Newtown Township Public Works yard on MONDAYS in August and September. Branches and tree limbs can be as large as 10” in diameter.  The drop off times are Monday 7:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

Go to the Public Works building and yard behind the Municipal Building / Police Station / Library and look for the yard waste drop-off area within the yard.  Public Works will have the gates open at that time and a staff person will be present to handle the proper disposal of these limbs and branches.

This service is for residents only, and is not available to landscaping companies, tree companies or to business properties. No appointment is necessary, but proof of residency may be required at time of drop-off.

3-30-20 BRANCH DROP-OFF UPDATE - THE ANNUAL BRANCH DROP-OFF OPPORTUNITY THAT WAS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN IN APRIL HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19 DIRECTIVES.  PLEASE HOLD ON TO YOUR BRANCHES AND DO NOT BRING THEM TO THE PUBLIC WORKS YARD UNTIL THE MUNICIPAL COMPLEX IS RE-OPENED TO THE PUBLIC AND RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED.  THANK YOU.

Newtown Township Offers Spring Cleanup Assistance

Each year, Newtown Township offers a Spring Cleanup Collection during the month of May. During this month-long event, Public Works crews will be providing a pick-up of branches and tree limbs throughout the Township for any resident who requests it.  Also offered is an opportunity to drop off your own branches and tree limbs between April and September.

Curb-Side Collection of Branches and Tree Limbs

Branches and tree limbs can be as large as 10” in diameter.  They must be cut into lengths no longer than 6’ and stacked neatly at the curb with cut ends facing the street.  Leaves, grass clippings, brush and branches with a diameter larger than 10” will not be accepted.

Public Works will handle the proper disposal of these limbs and branches. There is no cost to residents for this pick up. However, this service is for residents only, and is not available to landscaping companies or to business properties.
