Building, Planning & Code Enforcement

Responsibilities

In 2011, the Code Enforcement Department was re-designated to the Department of Building, Planning and Code Enforcement. The Township directly responsible for the enforcement of the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (UCC), which adopts the International Codes by the International Codes Council, and the 2018 International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC). The departmental staff also enforces the provisions of Chapter 172 Zoning of the Newtown Township General Code.

In addition to the primary services listed below, the Building, Planning and Code Enforcement Department performs routine patrol of the Township to identify code violations which may result in citations and legal action requiring compliance with codes and ordinances such as dilapidated structures or illegal signage.

Code Officials are available to meet with you and discuss your project(s), complaint(s) or concerns, please call 610-356-0200 ext 110 to schedule an appointment. Appointments are available Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
